We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Supervisor, Silo Maintenance – Mechanical, Golden Penny Foods
Location: Apapa, Lagos
Job Purpose
- To coordinate, supervise, and ensure effective maintenance of all mechanical systems and equipment within the Silo section, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient wheat intake, storage, and discharge operations.
- The role is responsible for maximizing equipment availability and integrity through structured preventive and corrective maintenance practices.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise daily mechanical maintenance activities within the silo complex to ensure continuous and safe operations.
- Implement and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for silo equipment, including elevators, conveyors, magnets, drum sieves, classifiers, scales, blowers, aspiration fans, airlocks, diverters, slides, silo sweepers, and augers.
- Troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical faults promptly to minimize downtime and production losses.
- Supervise and guide technicians during maintenance activities, ensuring work is executed in line with engineering standards and safety procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections of silo equipment, maintain accurate maintenance records, and ensure timely completion of job reports.
- Monitor the condition of critical assets, identify failure trends, and initiate improvement actions to enhance reliability and performance.
- Collaborate closely with operations and other maintenance teams to support smooth wheat intake and discharge activities.
Qualifications
- 5 O’ level Credits including English & Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.
- OND in Mechanical Engineering or any related field.
Experience:?
- Minimum of three (3) years’ mechanical maintenance experience in a bulk material handling, grain handling, or food manufacturing environment.
The Person Must:
- Demonstrate strong awareness and compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements, including safe work practices in confined spaces and dusty environments.
- Possess a basic understanding of wheat intake, conveying, storage, and discharge processes in flour milling operations.
- Show good supervisory skills, with the ability to coordinate technicians and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Be proactive, organized, and capable of working under operational pressure.
